How Much Does a Wrong Hardness Analyzer Range Cost You? T9269C's Nine Range Settings Explained at a Glance

2026-10-15

If the hardness analyzer range is set wrong, your money is wasted: if the range is set too high, the precision at low-concentration ranges is of no use; if set too low, high-hardness water samples trigger alarms and distorted readings the moment they arrive — and by the time you notice, the heat exchanger may already be scaled. When selecting an online hardness analyzer, the first thing to do is match the range — the T9269C covers 0.5–1000 ppm segment by segment with nine reagent ranges. Match your application first, then talk about precision.

01 Nine Range Settings: How to Match Them

  • Low hardness range (0.5–15 ppm): MS6902, MS6903 — suitable for high-purity water and low-hardness make-up water lines

  • Medium hardness range (5–150 ppm): MS6904, MS6905, MS6906 — covering most circulating water conditions

  • High hardness range (25–1000 ppm): MS6907, MS6908, MS6909, MS6910 — suitable for high-hardness raw water and process water

02 Precision and Installation at a Glance

  • Precision and resolution: resolution 0.001, accuracy ±5%, unit switching among mg/L, ppm and mmol/L at a single touch

  • Analysis rhythm: approximately 5 minutes per single analysis, supporting interval and on-the-hour sampling modes

  • Installation: wall-mounted cabinet, delivered with 4 mounting brackets; convenient piping near the sampling point (within 2–3 m)

  • Environmental requirements: maintain a constant temperature as much as possible (around 25 °C), avoid strong electromagnetic interference and corrosive gases, and leave maintenance space at the front

  • Piping and pressure: inlet tube 6 mm; drain and overflow tubes must not be coiled and must not be higher than the flow cell; sample pressure around 1 bar — if too high, use a tee to relieve the pressure

03 Operating Conditions: Pitfalls to Avoid

  • Water sample: temperature 5–40 °C, pressure 0.5–5 bar (1–2 bar recommended)

  • Water quality: colorless, free of suspended solids and bubbles, pH 4–10.5

  • Interfering ions: iron <3 ppm, copper <0.2 ppm, aluminum <0.1 ppm, manganese <0.2 ppm

  • Sampling representativeness: keep the sampling point away from chemical dosing points and ensure thorough mixing for stable readings

04 Calibration and Maintenance: Remember Three Things

  • Calibration: factory-calibrated at delivery; on-site calibration is available later — no need to return it to the factory

  • Cleaning: if the flow cell scales up, soak it in 3% hydrochloric acid for 5 minutes, then rinse with pure water

  • Routine: regularly check the remaining reagent volume, water pressure valves and overflow/drain lines; the reagents are irritating — wear protective gloves and masks when handling, and the waste liquid can be disposed of as wastewater

If you have any questions about selection or installation, feel free to call us for consultation. Provide the water sample hardness, temperature and on-site conditions, and we will match the range setting for you, configure the appropriate reagents, and arrange installation and commissioning services.
