Project Completion | Chunye’s Complete Water Quality Online Monitoring System Successfully Settled in a Suzhou Sewage Treatment Plant

2026-06-04

Recently, the water quality online monitoring renovation project for a sewage treatment plant in Suzhou, undertaken by Shanghai Chunye Instrument Technology Co., Ltd., has been fully completed, including on-site installation, pipeline layout, instrument calibration and system joint debugging.

Five core products — online COD monitor, online ammonia nitrogen monitor, online total phosphorus automatic monitor, online total nitrogen automatic monitor, and online pH meter — have been successfully installed and commissioned. The entire monitoring system has been officially connected to the plant’s environmental management platform, enabling 24/7 uninterrupted online monitoring of water quality at both inlet and outlet points.

A fully customized multi-parameter water quality monitoring solution was delivered for this project. Covering all core assessment indicators for sewage discharge, the five types of monitoring instruments provide solid hardware support for compliant wastewater discharge and standardized online environmental supervision:
🔹 The online COD monitor adopts national standard detection principles to accurately measure chemical oxygen demand. Its measuring range adapts to fluctuating water quality conditions of municipal sewage. Equipped with automatic cleaning, timed sampling and self-diagnosis functions, it stores and uploads monitoring data in real time and fully complies with environmental platform networking standards.
🔹 The online ammonia nitrogen monitor applies mature electrode and spectrophotometric technologies to quantify ammonia nitrogen pollutants in real time. It supports automatic standard solution calibration and reagent shortage reminders, effectively reducing data errors caused by sudden water quality changes and ensuring superior data stability.
🔹 The online total phosphorus automatic monitor follows the national standard ammonium molybdate spectrophotometric method. The entire process of digestion, color development and detection operates automatically. It is highly adaptable to complex sewage such as biochemical tail water and sludge wastewater, greatly reducing manual sampling and laboratory workload.
🔹 Theonline total nitrogen automatic monitor adopts an integrated high-temperature and high-pressure digestion structure, completing water sample oxidation and concentration detection in one step. The device can connect with the plant’s central control system and trigger automatic over-limit alarms, allowing operation and maintenance personnel to promptly handle abnormal water quality conditions.

🔹 The online pH meter realizes round-the-clock monitoring of water acidity and alkalinity. Its electrode is equipped with an automatic wiper cleaning device to prevent probe failure caused by sludge adhesion, providing continuous and reliable data support for biochemical tank process adjustment and wastewater acid-base neutralization.

During the installation phase, Chunye’s professional engineers strictly followed national environmental equipment installation specifications and fully adapted to on-site working conditions. All construction procedures were completed in standard order, including cabinet fixing, sampling pipeline arrangement, circuit and communication connection, reagent filling, and individual & overall system joint debugging.

All monitoring instruments adopt national standard environmental communication protocols. Monitoring data can be displayed on local screens in real time and synchronously uploaded to local environmental supervision platforms, fully meeting online verification requirements for pollutant discharge permits and helping the plant smoothly pass environmental inspections.

According to the project person in charge of the sewage plant, before the renovation, the plant relied on regular manual sampling and offline testing, which led to delayed data feedback, failure to grasp real-time water quality changes, and passive process adjustment. After the full set of Chunye online monitoring equipment was put into operation, four key discharge indicators (COD, ammonia nitrogen, total phosphorus, total nitrogen) and the pH process parameter are fully automatically controlled. The system effectively reduces manual laboratory costs and enables technicians to optimize sewage treatment processes based on real-time data.

The successful implementation of this integrated monitoring project in Suzhou marks a benchmark case of Chunye Technology’s in-depth development in East China’s municipal sewage treatment industry. In the future, the company will continue to provide full-cycle services including regular inspections and professional after-sales operation & maintenance. Relying on its complete series of water quality online monitoring instruments, Chunye will help sewage treatment plants nationwide achieve intelligent environmental protection upgrading.
